This is a personal collection of thoughts, pictures, photos and poems about the Great Patriotic War, between Russia and Germany, 1941-45, named by Hitler as “Operation Barbarossa” [Red Beard], but which I will refer to as the GPW.
I will also be blogging about related subjects, such as the history of Nazi Germany, the Holocaust and the Cold War.
This is a personal interest of mine from a historical point of view. It is not an endorsement of atrocities on either side. Any offensive, denialist or neo-Nazi comments will be immediately deleted, and the poster banned without any discussion.

Interesting… your philosophy on commenting is much the same as mine. I allow no Nazis, Ukrainian nationalists, or crudeness in my comment section. “Voices from Russia” is my view of not only contemporary Russia, but, of her history. Red and White must bow before one another in respect and forgiveness. Indeed, one of my friends in Moscow is both a communist and an Orthodox Christian. “What are you doing taking communion? You’re a communist!” Yelenushka’s reply was simple, “I am also an Orthodox Christian”.
This old dog certainly learned a new trick with that one! Live and learn, my Dede used to say… he was right.
